Every year, 641,000 people walk out of prison gates, but people go to jail over 11 million times each year. Jail churn is particularly high because most people in jails have not been convicted. MORE THAN 1/2 OF THE PRIVATE PRISONS IN AMERICA ARE OWNED BY TWO PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANIES: CORRECTIONS CORPORATIONS OF AMERICA AND GEO GROUP WHOSE COMBINED EARNINGS ARE IN 2012 ARE IN EXCESS OF $2.5 BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY. IN COMBINATION THE PRIVATE AND PUBLIC PRISON SYSTEMS CURRENTLY HOLD IN AND AROUND 2.2 MILLION AMERICAN CITIZENS IN IT CLUTCHES.
PRIVATE PRISONS ALSO RECEIVE A STIPEND FROM THE GOVERNMENT WHICH CORRELATES INTO THEIR VERY SUBSTANTIAL BOTTOM LINE.
THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS NOT ONLY AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO AMASS LARGE PROFIT MARGINS BUT IT ALSO ALLOWS FOR THE POWERS THAT BE TO SUBJUGATE SEGMENTS OF THE POPULOUS TO INHUMANE AND OFTEN RACIALLY BIAS LAWS AND PUNISHMENTS,
